Competitive Development is an experimental structuralist music film reflecting on my childhood growing up as a twin. Through three seperate styles of animation (cameraless filmmaking on physical film celluloid, digital animation and claymation) I explore themes of individuality and identity following two abstracted figures as they compete in a flux of shape, form and colour, until they ultimately find a way to be themselves regardless of any comparison.
I worked on this project individually, with some assistance from the Curtin MCASI staff and some guidance from Curtin Screen Arts tutors Dr. Kirsten Hudson and Dr. Antonio Traverso as part of the unit Experimental Screens.
